You might remember that last year, Snapchat rolled out the ability for users to create their own custom geofilters. It required that users log onto a dedicated website to do so, but a recent update to Snapchat has now simplified the process.
Users will now be able to create custom geofilters within the app itself, which is more convenient.
Snapchat’s support page states, “To get started, simply tap “On-Demand Geofilters” in Settings to check out our all-new mobile creative studio. From there, you can pick a theme for your filter and add personal flair with text, Bitmojis, and Stickers.” Even though the feature is more readily accessible, users will still have to pay for these custom geofilters, just so we are clear.
The cost of a filter starts at $5.99 and will change depending on how big the filter is, how in-demand that location is at the moment, and for how long users want it to be available for. This feature seems more aimed at businesses who want to do some promotions, as opposed to regular Snapchat users who just want to create something for fun, but anyone can pay. Right Now, in-app geofilter creations are limited to users in the US, but more regions should be added over time. Those outside of the US can use the dedicated website to create their filters. So there you have it.
