Some snobby museum patrons may disagree, but the fact is that video games are an art form. And thankfully, more people are realizing this. The Smithsonian sees them as art and rightly so. They have opened the Art Of Video Games exhibit today.
The focus is not on art in video games, but on video games themselves as an artform. They are displaying everything from Pac-Man to Doom II to Mario Galaxy. This exhibit is a video game geek’s dream come true. You can see it yourself from March 16 until September 30th, before the 10-stop national tour.
It’s nice to see that more people are appreciating video games as a true art form rather than just a waste of time. One day maybe Mario will be right up there with the Mona Lisa.
