Many politicians have been very vocally against video games, claiming that they are violent and lead to a life of crime basically. California Senator Leland Yee has spent years battling against violent video games himself and claims that he is protecting children. Well, this fine upstanding member of the elite was arrested during multiple raids in Sacramento, the Bay Area, and Chinatown in San Francisco. Conspiracy to deal firearms, among other things.
So Yee is just another hypocrite. No surprise there. He is a politician after all. He was the driving force behind the 2005 law that would have made it a criminal act to sell violent video games to children. The proposed law was not well received, and eventually made its way to the Supreme Court a few years ago, where it was overturned. Thank God.
The primary reasoning behind his anti-violent video games push was the need to protect children from harm. Now we know that we really needed to protect people from him. Yee was arrested on conspiracy to deal firearms, as well as bribery and similar issues. According to FOX40, drugs were also confiscated during one of the raids. Enjoy doing hard time, while we enjoy playing video games Mr. Yee.
