Last month we learned that Hulu will be the exclusive streaming home of Seinfeld, and we also learned that it would arrive in June, but at the time we didn’t have a specific date. Today we have a date. Hulu says that you will be able to stream episodes of Seinfeld on the service starting June 26. It’s a festivus…for the rest of us.
That’s just over one month of waiting. Not too bad if you need some Seinfeld in your life. The rumor is that Hulu paid more than $500,000 USD per episode for the rights to stream the show.
Fear not, subscribers won’t have to wait for the series to roll out over time either. The entire Seinfeld series will be available on June 24. This is just the latest of many exclusive streaming rights the company has acquired recently as they compete with the likes of Netflix. Hulu will also be the exclusive streaming home to AMC’s upcoming Fear the Walking Dead among many other shows.
Studios were once scared of video streaming services like Hulu, but lately they have been embracing them and it’s the viewer that wins in this game when deals can be reached. Seinfeld fans will want to mark their calendars for this one.
