Samsung hauls a lot of goods in Argentina and so naturally operates a large fleet of trucks in the country. Argentina also has a high number of traffic fatalities. Samsung says that a person dies in a traffic accident every hour. 80% of these accidents happen on roads and most of these are from people trying to pass. It is a real problem.
When trying to pass a big rig, it can be impossible to tell if another vehicle is coming until you begin a passing maneuver. This is super dangerous. The odds of accidents occurring are even higher when you take into account that there are hundreds of one lane roads in the country. It’s a recipe for disaster.
To help reduce the number of traffic accidents, Samsung has installed some helpful technology on its fleet of trucks and they call the fleet “The Safety Truck.” These trucks have wireless cameras on the front bumper that stream images from the front of the truck to screens that are mounted on the rear doors. The image makes it much easier to tell when a car is oncoming. And that should lead to less accidents. The cameras even have a night vision mode that allows drivers behind them to see it in the dark. This is a great move on Samsung’s part.
