Samsung launched it’s own virtual mobile reality headset, in partnership with the folks at Oculus VR. It’s an accessory for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which will hit retail later this year.
As usual, the Korean OEM didn’t reveal how much money we’ll have to spend to get our hands on the accessory, but worry no more. According to a new report, Samsung Gear VR headset will carry a $199 price tag when it launches in the US later this year. This is, obviously, excluding the phablet which may cost $799 off-contract, or $299 with a two-year agreement.
A Samsung spokesperson at New York Fashion Week attendees at the company’s Lincoln Center booth in Manhattan. It’s not surprising actually, since a rumor lately suggested that Gear VR will come with a €199 price in Europe, which could be real too.
In the UK, the Gear VR handset is already up for pre-order for £150 at a retailer, but there’s no word about the shipment date for the accessory.
The accessory requires you to have a Note 4 phablet as well. Now, we only have to wait for the exact release date, which should pop up in the coming weeks as well. Stay tuned, we’ll update you as soon as anything comes up.
