It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch has a return rate as high as 30 percent at Best Buy, at least according to a leaked internal document from Best Buy. The document is asking for opinions from on-site Samsung staff as to why customers may be returning the device and also gives exact dates for when Gear compatibility will expand to other Samsung devices.
The document says that “The Galaxy Gear attachment rate within Best Buy is the highest among all channels, however the overall return rate is trending above 30%.”
The memo was for Samsung employees working in the company’s Samsung Experience Stores. You know, those micro-stores within Best Buy stores. The document also asks employees to give their thoughts on why customers are returning the smartwatch.
Aside from that, the document also gives dates for when Samsung’s Note II, S III, S4, and S4 Active smartphones will be receiving the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update that will make them compatible with the Galaxy Gear.
This update will begin rolling out to customers on October 28, until December 2. Why do you think customers are returning the device? That does seem a high number, and I expect many think it can do more than it actually is capable of, so they get disappointed.
