We knew that it was only a matter of time, and sure enough, the purported specs and launch details for the upcoming Samsung Ativ SE have hit the web. This Verizon-bound smartphone is rumored to launch some time next month.
According to sources, the Samsung Ativ SE will be made available as a Windows Phone 8 device, despite the upcoming announcement of an 8.1 update. The Ativ SE will receive the update once it’s ready for the handset. So what else can we expect? The Ativ SE is said to be similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S4 handset, with the same 5-inch 1080p display and 13-megapixel camera. It even looks the same, with a brushed metal effect on the rear of the device.
It will also be packing the Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Naturally a microSD slot will allow owners to improve on that storage. Word is that the device will be made available on Verizon in April, and it could be seen as a reasonably sized alternative to the Lumia 1520 or the Lumia Icon. It is a bit of a disappointment that it will come with Windows 8, but 8.1 will hit the device soon enough.
