Yesterday we heard about a new security issue discovered on Samsung’s Galaxy S III smartphone, if you visited a website that contained a particular line of code, you handset would be remotely wiped.
The line of code was capable of triggering a factory reset of the Samsung Galaxy S III, and now Samsung has announced that they have a fix for the issue and it is being released as an over the air update.
“We would like to assure our customers that the recent security issue concerning the GALAXY S III has already been resolved through a software update. We recommend all GALAXY S III customers to download the latest software update, which can be done quickly and easily via the Over-The-Air (OTA) service.”
If you own a Samsung Galaxy S III it is recommended that you install the OTA update to your handset as soon as possible as this should protect you from the remote data wipe issue.
