3D TVs are all the rage, So it is no surprise that Samsung and entertainment company Lionsgate will convert the studio’s films into 3D. The announcement was made at CES 2013. Popular theatrical titles, like “Gamer,” “Crank,” “Bangkok Dangerous,” and “The Descent,” will be remade in 3D for DVD, Blu-ray, and video-on-demand.
Other titles will follow soon after. Lionsgate will be using Samsung’s proprietary 3D processing technology to convert the films. Lionsgate also says that its upcoming films will be converted to 3D as well, before having a theatrical release.
“Lionsgate is committed to being an innovator in enhancing the quality of the home entertainment experience for our consumers, and Samsung is an ideal partner to help us fill the release pipeline with commercially exciting films in the best 3D picture quality.”
