Ahead of CES 2013 next week, which runs from Jan 8th-11th, 2013, ROCCAT has unveiled their latest mechanical gaming keyboard, in the form of the ROCCAT Ryos.
The Ryos is the first mechanical keyboard created by ROCCAT and features a unique illumination system that allows users to illuminate individual keys when required.
The ROCCAT Ryos mechanical keyboard is powered by two 32-bit ARM cortex processors, and the keyboard has been designed to provide visual key functions, macros, and even health or mana bars using the new illumination technology.
Advanced Features and Customization
One of the standout features of the ROCCAT Ryos is its advanced per-key illumination system. This allows gamers to customize the lighting of each individual key, which can be particularly useful in low-light environments or for highlighting specific keys used in complex gaming macros. The keyboard’s illumination system is not just about aesthetics; it also provides functional benefits by allowing users to set up visual cues for different in-game actions.
The Ryos also boasts 2MB of internal Flash storage, which ensures ultra-responsive performance. This storage capacity allows users to save multiple profiles and macros directly on the keyboard, making it easy to switch between different setups without the need for additional software. This feature is particularly beneficial for gamers who participate in tournaments or frequently switch between different games.
Switch Options and Build Quality
The ROCCAT Ryos Keyboard Series comes with up to four different CHERRY MX key switches: black, brown, red, and blue. Each type of switch offers a different tactile experience, catering to a wide range of preferences. For instance, CHERRY MX Black switches are known for their linear action and high actuation force, making them ideal for fast-paced gaming. On the other hand, CHERRY MX Brown switches offer a tactile bump without the audible click, providing a balanced experience suitable for both typing and gaming.
The build quality of the Ryos is another aspect that sets it apart from other mechanical keyboards on the market. The keyboard is constructed with high-quality materials designed to withstand the rigors of intense gaming sessions. The keycaps are made from durable plastic that resists wear and tear, ensuring that the keyboard remains in excellent condition even after prolonged use.
“ROCCAT has succeeded in defining a new standard for mechanical gaming keyboards. The Ryos is the first gaming keyboard ever that features per-key lighting and up to two 32-bit ARM cortex processors. 2MB internal Flash storage make the Ryos ultra responsive. Software Integration and Additional Features
The ROCCAT Ryos is not just about hardware; it also offers robust software integration. The keyboard is compatible with ROCCAT’s Swarm software, which provides a unified driver suite for all ROCCAT devices. This software allows users to customize their keyboard settings, create and manage macros, and even monitor their gaming performance through detailed statistics.
Another noteworthy feature is the Easy-Shift[+] technology, which effectively doubles the number of functions for each key. By holding down the designated Easy-Shift[+] key, users can access a secondary layer of commands, making it easier to execute complex in-game actions without having to remember multiple key combinations.
The ROCCAT Ryos gaming keyboard is planned to ship in the first quarter of this year, but unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet.
