After being available for iOS and Android devices for almost a year, and the PS3, the Redbox Instant by Verizon app is now available for Windows Phone 8 users from the Windows Phone Store. For the next 60 days, only Nokia Lumia models will be able to download the app, but that is most Windows Phone users anyway, so it is not a problem.
The app lets you browse and watch movies instantly, reserve copies of popular titles at your local Redbox kiosk, and it allows you to rent or buy videos digitally. And of course, the app will give you a map to direct you to the closest Redbox kiosk near you for even more excitement. All from your Lumia device.
For $8 a month you get unlimited streaming for the month and 4 DVD rentals per month from the kiosk, which can be upgraded to Blu-ray for just $1 more. The first month is a free trial period which lets you stream unlimited movies over your handset, plus pick up 4 DVDs from a Redbox kiosk. If you haven’t joined Netflix yet, I guess it is worth giving this one a look. The price is great and you do have a Lumia device right?
