One of the more frustrating aspects of The PSN store is that you can’t use Paypal to purchase your games. Well now, Sony has announced that users can add funds to their Sony Entertainment Network wallet through the PS3 PlayStation Store which now supports PayPal.
PayPal integration was actually introduced earlier this year in January, but until now the Sony Entertainment Network wallet could only be funded through PayPal via the web, which adds an extra step. Recently Sony also added the option to add funds to the wallet through mobile devices, with their Mobile Billing option. PayPal support on your PS3 PlayStation Store will make it much easier and faster to buy your virtual goods. That’s the way it should be. It’s one of the few gripes that I have had about the service.
Now you might be cautious about using your paypal account due to the PlayStation Network breach back in 2011, when we saw the personal information of millions leaked, but you shouldn’t worry. PayPal support adds an additional level of security, so you should be just fine. If you want to add funds to the Sony Entertainment Network wallet through your PS3, all you have to do is click “Add Funds” when checking out from the cart on PlayStation Store. Just click on “PayPal” and you can transfer any amount from $5 to $150, which is the maximum balance. Hurray!!!
