We showed you some funky Ceramic Speakers, designed by Joey Roth back in August. Now, Joey has a new design available, the Porcelain Speakers.
Like the previous model, the Porcelain Speakers are handmade from a combination of porcelain and cork. I love the design; they look really cool.
Their 4″ full-range drivers and T-class amplifier, encased in acoustically dead porcelain and cork, create a remarkably simple path from source to ear.
Design and Materials
The Porcelain Speakers are a testament to Joey Roth’s commitment to combining aesthetics with functionality. The use of porcelain and cork is not just for show; these materials have specific acoustic properties that enhance the listening experience. Porcelain is known for its density and rigidity, which helps in reducing unwanted vibrations and resonance. This ensures that the sound produced is clear and uncolored. Cork, on the other hand, is used for its natural damping properties, which further helps in minimizing vibrations.
The design is minimalist yet elegant, making these speakers a perfect addition to any modern living space. The white porcelain contrasts beautifully with the natural cork, creating a visually appealing product that stands out from the typical plastic or metal speakers available in the market.
Technical Specifications
The Porcelain Speakers are equipped with 4″ full-range drivers, which are capable of delivering a wide range of frequencies. This means that whether you’re listening to the deep bass of a hip-hop track or the high notes of a classical piece, these speakers can handle it all. The T-class amplifier is another highlight, known for its efficiency and high-quality sound reproduction. This type of amplifier is often used in high-end audio equipment, so its inclusion in the Porcelain Speakers is a significant plus.
The combination of these technical features with the unique materials used makes these speakers not just a piece of art but also a high-performance audio device. The simplicity of the design extends to the user experience as well. There are no complicated controls or settings to worry about; just plug in your source, and you’re good to go.
There is no word on pricing or availability as yet, but the Ceramic Speakers that we featured previously are available for $500 from gSelect.
Given the craftsmanship and the materials used, it’s likely that the Porcelain Speakers will be priced similarly. These speakers are not just for audiophiles but also for those who appreciate good design and are willing to invest in a product that offers both aesthetic and functional value.
In conclusion, Joey Roth’s Porcelain Speakers are a remarkable blend of art and technology. They offer a unique listening experience, thanks to the carefully chosen materials and high-quality components. Whether you’re an audiophile or someone who appreciates good design, these speakers are worth keeping an eye on.
