At this point it is pretty much a no-brainer that if it says Pokemon on the label, it will sell like hot cakes. But just how well are the most recent Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire doing? Well, let’s just say that Pikachu sleeps in a solid gold pokeball and eats caviar.
These two games have managed to move more than 3 million units of the game in a matter of just three days. There is no doubt that Pokemon is still a franchise to be reckoned with. They haven’t reached Pokemon X & Y’s levels yet, but they just might.
To sell more than 3 million copies of the game in a matter of three days is pretty impressive, but Pokemon fans obviously crave more. Nintendo has also confirmed this figure for Game Freak, which included sales across several countries like the U.S., Japan, Australia and South Korea. Japan made up close to half of the combined total at 1,534,593 units. Some other 3DS titles that sold more than a million units over the weekend include Monster Hunter 4, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Pokemon X and Y. So these games are in good company. It will be interesting to see the final numbers.
