Recently Niantic issued an update for Pokemon GO that adds 80 new Pokemon. Obviously, more Pokemon is a good thing for players. So it is no surprise that the app has managed to climb its way back up the app charts again.
It had dipped down lower after interest in the game subsided.
Sensor Tower head of mobile insights Randy Nelson said, “Pokémon Go hadn’t been No. 1 in the U.S. since January 4 at the end of the New Year’s event. It only got as high as No. 8 during the Valentine’s event.” Aside from the US, Pokemon GO managed to climb to number 1 in Great Britain, Denmark, Ecuador, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, and Slovakia.
What is very odd is that Pokemon GO in Japan is still sitting at 8th place in terms of app revenue. That is a bit of a surprise given their love of Pokemon. This update has managed to turn things around and bring players back to the game. Niantic also says that features like player battles and trading are in the works too and should be released this year. Those features should bring back even more players and encourage new ones to join in on the fun.
