You may have heard about a little game called Pokemon Go that is making it’s way around the world. The rollout has been slow with the game being released in just a few countries at a time. This is also building anticipation for those countries that are waiting.
Over the weekend the game had its biggest release with 27 new countries being added. But that is just a small number of the markets around the world. Niantic has plans for a bigger push soon.
Niantic’s CEO John Hanke revealed that the company has plans to rollout the game to as many as 200 markets “relatively soon”. That’s a lot of territory to cover, but the company is working on bolstering its server capacity ahead of time to make sure that when it does rollout to more users, it will be able to handle the extra traffic without crashing constantly, which would only frustrate gamers.
Sadly we don’t have a more detailed timeframe for future rollouts, so we will just have to wait and see. The game has been a massive hit everywhere it is available so far. It is a cultural phenomenon. When we hear about more markets, we will let you know.
