Sony’s PlayStation VR headset now has support for virtual reality videos on YouTube. Version 1.09 of the YouTube app for PlayStation 4 adds support for Sony’s virtual reality headset. So what exactly does this mean for you?
Well, it means that PlayStation 4 owners with a PlayStation VR headset can now use it to watch virtual reality videos that are available on YouTube.
PlayStation VR is primarily for VR gaming but there are a lot of VR video apps available on the PlayStation Store. If you want to experience something other than gaming in VR, these apps are what you want. And now the YouTube app has been added to the list. Version 1.09 of the YouTube app for PlayStation 4 is rolling out slowly. It gas not gone live across all regions yet so it’s probably going to be a few days before the latest version of the YouTube app for PS4 goes live everywhere. You should see it soon.
The app update will allow PlayStation VR owners to use their headset to watch virtual reality content on YouTube. When you launch the app while wearing the headset, you have a choice to run the PlayStation VR version or the Normal version of the app.
