Sony’s PlayStation Now game streaming service has only been available on the company’s devices so far, but that is about to change. That exclusivity is over. PlayStation Now is now available on compatible Samsung smart TVs for users in the U.S. and Canada.
So if you own these television sets you will be able to stream games through PlayStation Now without needing to hook up a Sony console. We knew it was coming and now it is official.
You will still need the DualShock 4 controller of course, so if you don’t already have one you will have to purchase one. You’ll also need a strong internet connection to stream the games without any problems, Sony recommends 5Mbps or higher.
PlayStation Now has been around since last year on the PlayStation 4, but Sony has not yet launched this service on the PlayStation 3. That should come later this year. The service is available on devices like the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV and certain Blu-ray players and TVs from Sony. Now Samsung is a player. Samsung Smart TV owners can stream from the library which now contains more than 100 PlayStation 3 titles. You can purchase Sony’s $19.99 per month PlayStation Now subscription and stream any of the available games whenever you want. Awesome.
