If you have a PlayStation 4, you probably use it as a video viewer. But let’s be honest, it isn’t ideal. You have to jump between apps just to see what shows are worth watching. Sony is fixing this issue now. American users now have a retooled TV & Video section that shows new and trending video from a bunch of services, including live channels on PlayStation Vue.
It’s now more like the carousel interface you see in other apps for Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, it even has featured and themed sections. You can still launch the apps first if you want, but it’s now easier to skip directly to what you want to watch.
That’s partly because you’ll also see personalized recommendations, starting with YouTube. Just link your YouTube account to PSN and you’ll see suggested videos right on your PS4’s home screen. Other services are “coming soon,” apparently.
There’s no word on if this will happen internationally yet, but it will likely roll out elsewhere soon. After all, Sony wants to promote its original PlayStation TV shows and convince PS4 owners that their console is more than just a game machine. Do you like the new format? It seems easier to sort through things.
