In North America, the PlayStation 4 will cost $399 which is not too bad, but still a nice chunk of change. We really can’t complain since folks who live in Argentina are paying roughly $1,100. It turns out, even those folks have it good compared to Brazil, where the console is expected to have a price tag of R$3,999, which after conversion is about $1,850.
Yes, you read that right. That is one expensive PlayStation 4 console! I would want the entire game catalog on it’s hard drive for that price. This is about 4 times the price in the US. Sony Brazil explained that the reason behind the price is the cost of the console in Brazil includes the import fees and taxes. Alone, those account for about $1,292 of the price.
And for PS4 games, Brazilian gamers will have to pay R$179, which is about $80 per game. One thing is for sure, it’s not easy being a gamer in Brazil. Still, given how much they are paying for the console, I guess the cost of games could be much worse. This should make all of the rest of you feel good that you live in countries where it is cheaper. We have it pretty good compared to some others.
