Pinterest is always introducing new ways for its users to access pinned items and now it’s revealing another. Now you can use the company’s visual search tech to search for things from inside its browser extensions.
You can hover over an image on the site you’re reading to find related items on Pinterest without having to leave that page.
The new visual search is only available for Chrome right now, but the company says that the feature will hit extensions for other browsers “in the future.” Then everyone can use it. To use it in Chrome, you’ll need to download the browser button extension and hover over any image on a web page. Then you’ll see a magnifying glass next to the red “save” button. All you have to do is click that new icon and adjust the window to focus on an item to see a list of categories and results in real time. It’s pretty cool for Pinterest users.
You can also use it to discover specific objects, products, patterns and colors. Right clicking the background of a web page and selecting “search” will allow you to do some hunting with the entire page instead of just one image. Pinterest users will enjoy this new search feature.
