Before the game’s October 15th Nintendo Switch launch, Blizzard now has details on the latest Overwatch patch, 1.41. The studio describes 1.41 as a “remaster,” and says that it will require a big download. The patch will be available in the next couple of weeks.
Patch 1.41 doesn’t include a new map or any playable characters per se, but it is likely to alter the balance of power between the game’s different heroes. This was probably overdue and is a good thing.
Blizzard has focused most of its attention on Sigma, which is Overwatch’s most recent new hero. They are tweaking his ability to perform as a top-tier tank essentially. The studio also plans to make characters like D.Va and Winston more effective, so those characters will likely see more playtime from players across all skill levels. Blizzard plans to tweak the effectiveness of 13 of Overwatch’s 31 heroes when all is said and done. If you are a fan of competitive Overwatch, after 1.41 you’ll likely see the pros play some heroes they haven’t played in a while, which should make the matches a little more interesting.
Blizzard is beta testing the patch on PC right now. If you play Overwatch on PC, you can try out the changes for yourself by downloading the PTR client.
