The latest financial data from Konami reveals that it has shipped over six million copies of Metal Gear Solid 5 to retailers. Obviously there is a difference between shipments and sales, but this at least shows that retailers were not shy about stocking up this particular title. They know they will fly off the shelves.
Even though Konami shipped over 6 million copies of Metal Gear Solid 5, that doesn’t mean that it sold as many copies. There may be a few hundred thousand copies still be sitting on retailers’ shelves. Nevertheless, these are encouraging numbers for the company.
Konami mentioned that by December 31, 2015 it had shipped over 6 million copies of Metal Gear Solid 5 worldwide. This includes both physical and digital formats of the game. Metal Gear Solid 5 has performed very well in the marketplace, helping push Konami’s digital profits up by as much as 150 percent. Konami reports that the very good performance of Metal Gear Solid 5 has resulted in an increase in revenue as well as operating profit. They have to be happy about that. It will be interesting to see what the final numbers are on this title when all is said and done. I’m sure those numbers will climb higher.
