Fans love the idea of creating their own Super Mario levels and challenging friends, and downloading new Super Mario levels created by other gamers too. And that is the key to Nintendo’s latest hit. The game is a huge success and gamers are buying it and playing it like crazy.
According to a recently tweet by Nintendo of America, the company has sold more than 1 million copies of Super Mario Maker. Keep in mind that this title was only released on the September 11th, so these sales have taken place in less than a month’s time. Very impressive!
The game has seen 2.2 million courses made since its release, which means on average every game has at least made 2.2 courses. It has been played 75 million times. Yeah, I’d call that a runaway hit. In fact Super Mario Maker will be getting its own stage in Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U later this week. It is a phenomenon.
Maybe Nintendo is slowly making its way back into the hearts and minds of gamers and finding some winning formulas. Hopefully they have some other winning games in the works that gamers will love just as much as this one.
