As part of a minor update, Epic Games has “vaulted” or retired the Drum Gun. The weapon has only been available since July, but it has caused a lot of damage. The 50-round capacity and high rate of fire means that it was able to take out multiple opponents with a single magazine. It could also ruin your day if you were trying to build a structure since you could easily unload on someone’s wall and still have ammo to finish off your opponent.
And since it was also easy to find, this caused a lot of grief for players. Epic actually tuned down the gun for season five. It may, in fact, come back at some point, when epic finds a better balance, like it did with guided missiles. But for now, the Drum gun is gone.
The same update introduces a Suppressed Assault Rifle that focuses on precision and stealth. So it’s the opposite of the Drum Gun and this could make it perfect for taking out opponents at medium distances without letting nearby rivals know. If you were a fan of the Drum Gun, at least this new gun should balance things out for you it seems.
