Reddit is one of the most popular websites on the internet. I mean they are the self proclaimed Internets front page. Despite that massive userbase, Reddit still does not offer an official app for Android. Third-party clients are available for those who want them and Reddit offers an app for its Ask Me Anything sessions, but there’s no official app for the entire site. Well, it is about time for that to change. The official Reddit Android app is going to be released very soon.
This information comes from Reddit’s new CEO Steve Huffman himself, who revealed on the site that an Android app is “under active development.” This will be good news to Reddit’s many many Android users.
Android users have been waiting for an official app for what feels like forever. Especially after an “official client” app was launched in October last year following the company’s acquisition of popular third-party Reddit client Alien Blue. While we don’t have an exact release date for the Android app, it looks like Reddit users may not have to wait for too long.
Soon Android users will be able to browse and contribute to their favorite subreddits from an official app. It’s well beyond time.
