Nintendo Working On Apps For Mobile

Nintendo has said again and again that it will not create games for the mobile market, even though more gamers play games on mobile than own a Nintendo console. With the Wii U being an expensive doorstep for people, maybe Nintendo is having a change of heart.

According to a report by King 5, Nintendo could be looking to “experiment” with apps. They will be starting with iOS first. Nintendo of America’s President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime says:

“We’re also doing a lot of experimentation of what I would call the little experiences you can have on your smartphone and tablet that will drive you back to your Nintendo hardware. It’s largely going to be much more marketing activity-oriented, but we’ve done little things where there’s some element of gameplay – a movement, a shaking, something like that.”

So not full games apparently, which is a mistake. They’re hoping they will make gamers want to purchase Nintendo hardware. They should probably forget that strategy and make games for both. Quality games. Nintendo seems to forget that if you make a good game, gamers will flock to your system and buy it up.
