Nintendo says the Wii U is going to be sold at a loss. This is business as usual for most game consoles, but it’s a new trend for Nintendo. The company only started selling hardware at a loss recently.
On the bright side of things, CEO Satoru Iwata says that the 3DS is finally in the black, selling for a profit after dropping its price late last year. The big N expects business to pick up soon, but says that circumstances will keep it from attaining “Nintendo-like” profits in this fiscal year.
Hopefully they are right and the Wii U can start making a profit not long after launch thanks to mega sales.
