While Japan is not really a huge fan of Microsoft’s gaming console, it looks like it has fallen in love with the Nintendo Switch. The console has been doing very well in the country. It had a great Christmas week which has pushed the overall sales figures for the console in Japan to over three million. Not a bad Christmas present for Nintendo.
The latest figures from Media Create show that Nintendo crossed the three million mark for Switch sales in Japan as of December 24th. It’s estimated to have sold 269,684 units of the Switch between December 18th and December 24th. This strong performance helped it reach a total of 3,178,100 units in Japan. Not bad at all.
Nintendo has achieved this milestone only ten months after the console was released in Japan on March 3rd of 2017. These numbers could have been higher if the Switch hadn’t been in short supply for several months, but they will go higher still. And now the demand doesn’t seem to be dying down. It looks like Nintendo will see a strong demand for the console in Japan well into January 2018.
The Nintendo Switch has performed well most other places too. Nintendo confirmed recently that it has sold ten million units of the Switch as of December 12th. Good job Nintendo.
