The Nintendo Switch has been doing very well in the markets that it has launched in. We heard recently that the console is the fastest selling Nintendo console in the US during its launch week, and we heard that the console is also breaking sales records in Europe. Nintendo has a winner on its hands.
The console is also doing pretty well in Australia and New Zealand. A statement provided by Nintendo to Vooks says, “We can confirm that, across Australia and New Zealand combined, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.”
That may not be surprising since the flop that of the Wii U.Many Nintendo fans were excited to see Nintendo rectify many things the Wii U got wrong. Reviews of the console have been pretty positive, overall. It is a welcome improvement over the Wii U, even if this new one doesn’t get everything right. Will the excitement and hype have a huge drop off in the coming weeks or months? Very likely. But for now it is a huge hit. We have to see whether or not Nintendo will actually be able to maintain its momentum for a while.
