There was a time when Nintendo Power was required reading for kids. The magazine published tips, strategies, news and everything Nintendo. It lasted for 24 years until it shut its doors in 2012. The rise of new media killed it and we mourned, but now it’s back. This time in the form of a podcast.
Nintendo of America has announced the podcast’s debut episode on Twitter and revealed that the show is hosted by Chris Slate, the magazine’s former Editor-in-Chief. In the premiere episode, Slate talked about Breath of the Wild with the game’s producer, Eiji Aonuma, and director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi. This seems like it is a very good start considering the success of Switch and the Zelda title. Can this podcast be relevant and help reclaim some of Nintendo Power’s former glory? Only time will tell.
We don’t yet know how many episodes Nintendo is going to make, but you can listen to the first podcast on Soundcloud, or you can get the iTunes version. Nintendo says it will also be available on Google Play Music, but that doesn’t seem to be available yet. Nintendo fans should check it out and see if it is worthy of the Nintendo Power name.
