Fans have been wondering about the future of the Nintendo New 3DS. While Nintendo said that it would stand by the platform, the company only announced three new titles for the New 3DS at the E3 2017 gaming convention.
This made people think that the end was near for the console. Well, in fact, Nintendo has confirmed that now. The company has announced that it has stopped manufacturing the Nintendo New 3DS.
The company does not feel the need to keep this device around any longer, probably because its new console, the Nintendo Switch, doubles as a console and a handheld gaming device. So the 3DS is redundant. It should not be a surprise that Nintendo has decided to end the production of the Nintendo New 3DS. The console itself is almost three years old and is losing out on sales to Nintendo’s own 2DS XL.
Customers want the more modern option, even though it doesn’t offer the 3D effects of this console. Apparently Nintendo has not halted production of the Nintendo 3DS XL but it will likely not be long until it does. The New 3DS had a good run we guess and now it is time to move on from it.
