If you’ve played The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, you no doubt loved it. It was a hugely popular Zelda title. You have probably wondered why there was no Wind Waker 2. Many fans wanted a sequel and as you know, that one never came.
Well, a report from Nintendo Everything has revealed the reasons why this may have happened. This is based on an interview from The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts, an upcoming book which has a discussion with Satoru Takizawa.
According to Takizawa, back then fans of the franchise weren’t very happy with the cartoony Link in Wind Waker. There was a huge demand for them to return to more realistic graphics and that is why Wind Waker 2 was not made. Takizawa also revealed that the cartoony version presented some problems as they wanted Link to be able to ride a horse and he could not.
Apparently creating an adult version of Link would not have made things better either. They brought in illustrator Yusuke Nakano who helped to create Link’s image in Twilight Princess. Over the years, the art style in the Zelda franchise has been changed up from time to time, so these days we expect it.
