Nintendo has hit another milestone as they have announced that the company has sold 5 million 3DS handsets since its initial debut in March of 2011. But that isn’t all that they are celebrating. They’ve also broke some ground in game sales. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D sold 1 million, while Super Mario 3D land has sold 2.1 million and Mario Kart 7 has sold 1.75 million.
It’s no surprise that those game numbers are all for games with classic characters. The big N also mentioned that they held a 75 percent market share for portable hardware for the second month in a row. They also sold almost 400,000 units in Japan. In June alone, Nintendo sold 150,000 3DS units, 150,000 DS family units and about 95,000 Wii consoles.
Things are looking up for the company. But can they compete with the Vita from here on out?
