Recently Microsoft announced a few new Xbox One controllers, but if those controllers didn’t quite do it for you, there are other options. Maybe you want something more modular and customizable like the Xbox Elite Controller that was announced about 3 years ago. If that’s the case, you’ll be happy to hear that it may be close to launching at long last.
This news comes from a tweet by The Verge’s Tom Warren who claims that a Microsoft Xbox controller codenamed “Washburn” will be launching in October. Warren did not mention the Xbox Elite Controller, but since Washburn’s rumored price tag is $150, which is the same price as the current model, it stands to reason that it could be the next-gen Elite Controller.
Earlier this year there was a rumor that Microsoft was working on a successor of the elite controller, and alleged images of the device were leaked online, even though we don’t know how accurate those leaks are.
Anyway, if the tweet is accurate, we should have the official details in the next few months, so if you want a new controller, it might be a good idea to hold off and wait for a while to see what happens.
