We have been hearing lots of rumors about the new Razer Phone 2, and now it looks like we have an actual photo of the handset.
The press render of the handset, which you can see above, was posted online by Android Headlines. From the photo, it is evident that the new device looks very similar to the existing handset.
The picture below shows the original Razer Phone on the left and the new Razer Phone 2 on the right. There do not appear to be any major design changes on the outside of the handset.
Design and Display
While the external design of the Razer Phone 2 appears to be almost identical to its predecessor, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The original Razer Phone was praised for its sleek, minimalist design and robust build quality. The 5.7-inch IGZO LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate was one of its standout features, making it a favorite among gamers. It is highly likely that the Razer Phone 2 will retain this high-refresh-rate display, which is crucial for a smooth gaming experience.
The front-facing stereo speakers, which were a significant selling point of the original Razer Phone, also seem to be making a return. These speakers provide an immersive audio experience, which is essential for gaming and media consumption. The device’s overall aesthetic, with its sharp edges and matte black finish, continues to appeal to the gaming community.
Internal Upgrades
We suspect that the majority of the changes will come on the inside. The new handset is expected to come with a new processor, updated cameras, and probably the same 8GB of RAM. We are expecting the device to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. This would be a significant upgrade from the Snapdragon 835 found in the original Razer Phone, offering better performance and efficiency.
The camera system is another area where we anticipate improvements. The original Razer Phone featured a dual-camera setup with 12MP sensors, but it struggled to compete with other flagship devices in terms of photo quality. The Razer Phone 2 is expected to feature enhanced camera sensors and software optimizations to provide better low-light performance and overall image quality.
Battery life is always a concern for gamers, and the original Razer Phone’s 4,000mAh battery was one of its strong points. We expect the Razer Phone 2 to maintain or even improve upon this, possibly with faster charging capabilities and better battery management features.
Software and Features
On the software front, the Razer Phone 2 is likely to come with the latest version of Android, along with Razer’s customizations aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. Features like Game Booster, which optimizes performance for gaming, and Dolby Atmos support for superior audio quality, are expected to be part of the package.
Additionally, Razer might introduce new software features to take advantage of the hardware upgrades. For instance, improved thermal management could be a focus, ensuring that the device remains cool during extended gaming sessions. There might also be enhancements to the Razer Cortex app, which helps users discover and optimize games.
As soon as we get some more details on the new Razer Phone, including a full list of specifications and a launch date, we will let you guys know.
