Earlier this year we heard rumors that Apple might be launching a refresh of the Apple TV in April. Obviously April came and went and it did not happen. There have been many rumors and conflicting reports about the new Apple TV. Some claim that it is an overly ambitious effort by Apple, while others think that Apple has scaled back plans.
Now, a report from The Information says that the new Apple TV has been stalled and might even be delayed until 2015. The problem? It seems that Apple’s partners are hesitating. The cable companies are said to be “dragging their heels” and one of the reasons for the delay is apparently the impending Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger. Meanwhile, everyone on our end of things just wants the new Apple TV, so it is very frustrating for the consumer.
They also claim that Apple wants to include all kinds of content, but is having trouble getting permission from many types of rights holders. This has also led to the delay. All of these reasons make sense. So, chances are you may be waiting until 2015.
None of this info is concrete, so apply the usual grains of sodium crystals and just enjoy the meal that is speculation.
