If you were hoping to get Netflix support on Blackberry 10, here is some bad news. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings isn’t interested. It’s all about volume.
He was asked if he had tried any of the new BlackBerry 10 devices yet and he acknowledged that he had not, and that he was a BlackBerry addict up until around the release of the iPhone. He went on to say, “We don’t currently support streaming on the BlackBerry,”. The reason why? He says “unfortunately, there’s just not enough volume for entertainment [apps].” He says BB users don’t interact with their devices the way iPhone and Android users do.
I have to agree with others that this seems odd as Netflix supported Windows Phone from the beginning when that platform had no volume what-so-ever. BlackBerry has an 80 million user base. If just 10% were to sign on to Netflix, that would not hurt its volume. Sorry BB users. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
