The future of one of Netflix’s most popular original shows has been unclear ever since its lead was accused of sexual assault. Netflix suspended production on the upcoming sixth season before ultimately dropping Kevin Spacey from the cast entirely. We also learned that the sixth season would mark the end of this series. We were all uncertain if the final season would even be made. Well, now Netflix has announced that production has begun on the sixth and final season without Kevin Spacey.
Content chief Ted Sarandos had promised that Netflix would resume House of Cards production in early 2018 and it looks like they are keeping their word. Robin Wright will now be the new lead. The transition should not be jarring since Wright’s character has been given her own agenda in the past couple of seasons.
While previous seasons of House of Cards have all had 13 episodes, the sixth and final season will only have eight episodes. Netflix has not yet said when the final season of House of Cards will be released, but it will likely not be long. They are going to want to finish this up, air it and put it behind them as soon as possible.
