Netflix has officially announced that it is renewing The Umbrella Academy for a second season. The main cast will reprise their roles for the next season of the show. The second season will have 10 one-hour episodes. While we don’t know when new episodes might arrive, production on season two is scheduled to begin this summer.
Netflix confirmed that the cast of Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher and Justin Min will all be returning for the second season. Steve Blackman will also be returning as the showrunner and executive producer. Gerard Way, the creator of the original comic series will also be back as a co-executive producer. So there you go. The first season was a hit and now it is coming back.
Parrot Analytics estimated that the Netflix original was the most popular digital series in the US after it hit Netflix on February 15th. It also had solid reviews. So it is no surprise that the show is returning. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts since they have done such a great job with the first season. Hopefully, that quality will continue for many more seasons to come.
