Netflix has recently made a bunch of anime-related announcements and its latest will make many people happy. Netflix has announced that it’s making a new Ghost in the Shell series. Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 will be co-directed by the director of the original series, Kenji Kamiyama with Shinji Aramaki. The two have worked together previously on the Ultraman movie which is going to be released on Netflix in 2019.
Ghost in the Shell is a long-running anime franchise that started off as a manga in 1989. It follows Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cyborg, who was employed in Public Security Section 9, a counter-cyberterrorist department. There was a feature film released in 1996 and there have been multiple TV shows and sequels since it has been released.
This new Ghost in the Shell anime series is being co-directed by Appleseed’s Shinji Aramaki and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’s Kenji Kamiyama.
We are all going to have to wait though. The company has confirmed that this new series, titled Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, is not going to arrive on Netflix until 2020. We don’t have any further details right now and we may not have more until next year. Great news for fans though.
