Netflix subscribers at one time relied on user reviews to decide whether or not they want to spend their time on a new series or TV show, but they will no longer be able to do this soon. The online streaming service has neglected this feature for the last few years and now it’s going to completely do away with user reviews by the end of summer. At that time, user reviews will no longer be available on Netflix.
As it stands, the user review system on Netflix was only accessible through the desktop version of the app anyway. Not many people have been using it which is probably one of the reasons why Netflix has decided to do away with it. You’ll have to find another way to gauge what you may like.
A spokesperson for the company says that Netflix has started notifying users who have used the feature recently that user reviews will no longer be available by mid-August.
Netflix has already been gradually pulling users away from the crowdsourced rating system. In April of 2017, Netflix removed its five-star rating system and replaced it with a simple thumbs up or down. The new system was to improve personalized recommendations.
