Netflix is always adding content, both original and otherwise, but one bright spot ahead is the return of Dave Chappelle, which includes not one, not two, but three comedy specials for Netflix.
The streaming service announced that three selections from the comedian will be released together in 2017.
Right now details are somewhat scarce, but Netflix did reveal one of the shows will be a new stand-up special while the other two will be unreleased material from performances at Austin City Limits and the Hollywood Palladium.
The announcement comes after reports that Netflix paid $40 million for two stand-up specials from Chris Rock. They also have comedy material from Dana Carvey, Aziz Ansari, Patton Oswalt, Ali Wong, Hannibal Buress and many others. The streaming service is practically a comedy channel in their own right now. Netflix has been adding fresh stand-up material to its library of original content for some time now and the addition of Chappelle will do a great job of boosting viewership next year. Which is obviously the whole point. Dave Chappelle has been away for too long and fans are eager for more of his comedy, so this is perfect. We should not have long to wait now.
