Netflix has announced four new animated series for kids, one of which will be arriving this September. The rest will come later on in 2016. There is Puffin Rock, an animated series for preschoolers that will be launching later in the year.
Also in 2016 will be a Netflix Original Series called Tarzan and Jane, Luna Petunia, another preschooler series that is inspired by Cirque du Soleils, and Kulipari: An Army of Frogs. Sounds like kids have some great content coming their way.
Streaming content for kids has been lacking, so this is a good move. Netflix and its competitors have been working to expand their kids library, since kids represent a very large audience. Netflix wants to make sure it has plenty to offer younger viewers, not just older viewers. The idea is to keep everyone in front of a device watching their stuff, not just the adults. Once they have the kid market cornered, they will be golden.
Netflix hasn’t said when the 2016-scheduled shows will be launching, but I’m sure more details will come soon. If Netflix does as well for kids programming as it has done for adults, kids are going to be very happy campers indeed.
