The Golden Globe nominations were just announced and both Netflix and Amazon received more nominations than they did last year. Amazon received nine nominations for its series and one for a film, while Netflix drew eight series nominations and five for films. Hulu got two nominations. Critics are loving streaming sites.
Amazon received three nominations each for Homecoming, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and A Very English Scandal. Homecoming was nominated for Best Drama Series. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which took home eight Emmys earlier in the year, was nominated for Best Musical or Comedy Series. A Very English Scandal got nominations for Best Limited Series, Best Actor in a Limited Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series.
Netflix’s The Kominsky Method received three nominations for Best Musical or Comedy Series, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Bodyguard received a nomination for Best Drama Series and Best Actor. Alison Brie got a nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series for Glow, while Jason Bateman got a Best Actor nomination for Ozark. Then Regina King earned Best Actress in a Limited Series nomination for Seven Seconds.
Netflix’s Roma also got three nominations. It was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, while Alfonso Cuarón was nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay. The streaming services are cleaning up this year.
