Netflix viewers with Android and iOS have been able to set up individual user profiles, but sadly that feature has not yet been made available to Windows Phone 8 users. Even though a minor update for the streaming video site was released for Microsoft’s mobile OS on Friday, it did not include the ability for each household user to set up their own profile.
This is something you will still have to wait for and it means that Netflix recommendations on Windows Phone are based on the viewing habits of the entire family.
Windows 8 users with Netflix have been enjoying support for user profiles since October and just last week, Android users got an update that included the feature. What gives? There are many Netflix users who would rather that everyone in the family not know which movies and television shows they are watching. It seems like this was a no-brainer. It’s what users want.
Version 3.4.0.15 of Netflix for Windows Phone is apparently just bug fixes since the Windows Phone Store hasn’t listed a changelog. We can only hope that the next Netflix update for Windows Phone will include the ability to set up a user profile. Seriously this should be sorted already.
