Gaming consoles are about much more than just playing games nowadays. This is why some of the world’s most popular video streaming services are creating apps for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as well as other devices.
But for some reason, Nintendo has decided to not push forward with any non-gaming features for the Nintendo Switch at launch. However, the company has now said that Netflix for Nintendo Switch “will come in time.”
So basically Nintendo is considering the Netflix for Nintendo Switch functionality. The same consideration has also been extended to Hulu and Amazon Video. They really should have had these at launch, but at least they are addressing the issue. Nintendo America’s chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime told The Washington Post that the company is considering this functionality but without offering a confirmed timeline, he said only that this functionality “will come in time.”
He says that the company doesn’t see these features as what sets the Nintendo Switch apart from the competition. “What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.”
So Nintendo is going to focus more on the gaming side of things.
