Nest have been testing out their Nest Thermostat in the UK over the last few months, and now the company has announced that the Nest Thermostat is available in the UK from today.

The Nest Thermostat has been available in the US and Canada for some time, in the UK we have different heating systems than in the US, so Nest had to re-design their Thermostat to work with UK heating system.

But this Nest Thermostat is an almost entirely new Nest Thermostat. The one we have in the US and Canada won’t work for the UK because there’s a different problem to solve. The issue isn’t that you leave the heat or AC on all day. It’s that you barely have any control over your heat. Or your bill.

Most UK heating systems don’t even have thermostats. So the actual temperature or your comfort never enters into the equation. In order to warm up the house, you have to keep walking back and forth to the programmer, manually turning on the heat in quick bursts hoping you get it right. There’s also no way to track how much heat you’re using, so balancing comfort and energy savings is guesswork.

This is great news for UK consumers, as the Nest Thermostat is designed to help you save money on your energy bills, and with constant rising energy costs, we suspect the Nest will be very popular in the UK.

Nest have also build a network of installers in the UK, who are certified by the company to install the Nest Thermostat in your home, these installers will charge you £75 to install the Nest Thermostat.

The Nest Thermostat is now available in the UK for £179 for the device only, or £249 for the device and the installation, you can find out more details at the link below.

Nest were purchased by Google back in February of this year, the deal was worth $3.2 billion to Nest, and Google’s backing is expected to help the company expand more rapidly.
