Back when MTV used to have quality programming and played a lot of music, MTV Cribs was among its most popular shows. Well, if you’ve been feeling nostalgic about MTV Cribs, you’ll like this news. It looks like the network is reviving its Cribs program and in doing so, has teamed up with an odd partner: Snapchat.
Weird huh? Cribs aired from 2000 to 2011. The show had a simple format. Get the biggest stars and make them give a tour of their house, so we can all see how they live.
It is not coming back to TV. Instead MTV has decided to revive Cribs as a Snapchat series where stars will give tours of their mansions in a series of short, unedited videos. It will be free and viewers won’t need a cable subscription to tune in, just a smartphone and the Snapchat app. That’s it. Then you too can see expensive homes full of expensive stuff.
The MTV Cribs Snapchat series will be launched in June this year with Austin Mahone and Mac Miller, after their appearance the series will air weekly. We don’t know yet which stars will be welcoming us into their homes after that. Are you interested?
